May's Farmer's Wife Blocks Done!

Well at least for the colorway, Breath of Avignon by Moda, is done for May. Nothing like skating in on the last day at the last minute! Kidding, this is a no pressure quilt along and since we doubled up for April and May, our group is taking a break for the month of June. Yipee!

Now that I am "caught up" I hope to post on a schedule, maybe posting only one day a week for Farmer's Wife, once a month for my LQS club blocks, etc.....

We'll see how it works, and as always, thanks for stopping by and leaving comments.

My Army Son

My oldest son, David, is in the Army. He has made me one proud Mama! On this memorial day let's all remember our servicemen.

Here he in in his gear that he had to prep for his fourth deployment. He is going leaving to Afghanistan on May 30th. My heart is heavy.......

LQS May's Blocks

At least I am caught up on a couple of projects. These are blocks from a monthly club at my local quilt shop. The first block is the program's block and the other is the alternate color way in asian prints.

There are only three more blocks for this program, as the shop owner runs it from September to August each year. I'm getting excited to get these put together to see how they are going to look!

Iris Time

We were out weeding the flower beds today and all of the iris are blooming, so I cut a few and brought them into the house. During the spring and into the fall, I try to have fresh cut flowers on the dining room table, the patio table, and in my cube at work. Can you tell I like cut flowers?

Some More

Yep, more Farmer's Wife blocks. I am dogged determine to get caught up on this quilt along, only because I have put in a lot of time cutting out all the blocks, finding enought fabric to finish the quilt (including the backing),and with the blocks for May i'll be over half of the way done. Yipee!

Remember, this is only one colorway, Breath of Avignon, which I only have 16 to go for May. I still have nine blocks to complete in the civil war reproduction colorway for the month of may.

Even More Catch Up

I continue to plug away at catching up on my Farmer's Wife quilt-a-long. I am still working on the blocks for April. The group leader sent us double the number of blocks to complete for April and May. So, thats 20 per month or a total of 40 little 6" blocks!

More FW blocks for April

I spent the weekend working a show with my husband's business, so I only was able to get four more blocks done for the blocks scheduled for April.

I'm thinking I should reconsider doing the one in the lower right hand corner. Yuck!

Catching Up on Farmer's Wife Blocks

I am steadily working on my QAL Farmer's Wife blocks. These are from our April list. Yikes I am behind for April and May! Mostly because I spent almost three weeks in Albuquerque. The trip was way worth being behind, as I so enjoy being with my parents.

The only real pressure is self inflected, and I think most quilters are this way.

2012 Food Storage Begins

I love to garden, and with that, I do lots of food storage. I do canning, drying, and freezing of what we grow every year, and this year is starting out as no exception.

Below is the first batch of three batches of canning New Mexican green chili. If you have ever had New Mexican style cuisine, you know that much of it has green chili. People there claim to be addicted to the flavors and put it on everything, eggs, pizza, hamburgers (you can actually order it on your hamburger at McDonalds!), etc. My family and I are "addicts", so while I was in Albuquerque for my Father, I bought 25 pounds. It came already chopped and frozen. I put it in a suitcase and checked it in with my baggage and flew home. The next day, my husband and I canned 23 half pints and 13 pints. We're already thinking I didn't bring enough!

This is parsley that I dried yesterday from what I harvested from the garden already! I planted a small start befor I left to go to Albuquerque, and after about 5 weeks I filled a small jar of dried heads. The pungent aroma of fresh herbs is so much better than the processed products you can buy.

LQS blocks #8 & 9

In an earlier post, I talked about a quilt club that I attend once a month at my local quilt shop. And, you might remember an earlier post listing the things I was behind on.

Well, I am happy to say I have gotten the club blocks done for the last two months and the two alternate colorway blocks done!

Sewing Room Part 2

This is a corner in my sewing room dedicated to my interest in wool rug hooking and felt crafts. I learned to rug hook about 8 years ago, but haven't had the time or space to really pursue this craft. That's why I gave space in the new room to work on my wool projects again.

Table Set

I have had the great pleasure to come and visit my parents in New Mexico. You may remember that my Father was diagnosed with mastesized lung cancer. He had his surgery on March 27th removing the lower right lobe of his lung, and came home 11 days later. We were told that this is the most painful surgery and recovery. I came to help my mother on April 19th, and have been here since.

God is so good! My Father, after five weeks since his surgery, is doing great. He is walking a half mile twice a day, eating well, and has excellent color. He still has pain, but he says it lessens each day.

While I was here visiting and helping, I did get the rest of my Birdie Stitches blocks completed. I'll post them after I get home and get them ironed.

Below is a table set I made for my Mother last year for her birthday, but I didn't forgot get a picture before I sent them off. So, while I was here, I got the pictures and thought I would share.

The first picture is a table topper, next are the matching placemats, and the last are matching coasters.
