2016 Finished Quilts - Thimbleberries Garden Glory - #21

I am kinda all over the place with the multiple programs I participated in over the years.  There are a total of 102, plus or minus, projects to work on at any given time.  So, I have been skipping around choosing the projects I want to work on, moree based on what is my favorites.

This quilt comes from the program called Room by Room, during the year of 2008.   More Specific this was a kit for the month of May.  The name of the quilt is called Garden Glory.

I made this quilt right after I was laid off from my job of 7 years, during the downturn of the economy.  It was one of the first projects I worked on during this dark time of my life.  I got the top done, and since I wasn't doing quilting on my domestic machine, I put it aside until late last year.  I pulled out the top and added the borders and sent it off to the long armer.

This is one of my favorites, mostly because it is a happy quilt, with good colors.  And, it is not a square quilt, so I will fit on a twin bed, measuring 63" X 77".  Sad, because I don't have a twin bed to put it on right now.  I have dreams of owning a cabin, and putting my quilts on lots of beds.  That's a big dream, and just a dream.

Forgive the shadow of the ladder prop, but the rest of the picture shows the pattern blocks in this quilt.  I really like the big floral squares in this quilt.  The print makes me smile.

Here is a close up of the borders and binding.  I always like the way Thimbleberries patterns for borders, they are often different with cornerstones, or different colors, or patterned blocks.

Just like the front of the quilt, the backing is light also.  It is a tone on tone beige, very common for Thimbleberries quilt backings, and background fabric.  Binding is a yellow tone on tone, and it makes the completion of the quilt just perfect.

Warmest...

2016 Finishes - Room by Room Autumn Retreat 05/08 - #15

During the 2006 - 2008 there were several Thimbleberries monthly clubs outside of the regular Thimbleberries BOM Club.   I started working on it back in 2013, you can read the posts about it here.   I finished the top, and put it away until the end of 2016, when I was able to send it off to my long arm quilter.

Here is a list of the clubs I participated in (purchasing a kit a month) during these two years.  With the exception of Anniversary Club, Christmas Clubs, and Cover Story Club, each lasted 12 months, with a kit coming in the mail each month.  60%- 70% of the kits were full sized quilts, with the rest being throws or wall hangings.  The Anniversary Club covered 24 months with a kit coming every other month.  Each of its kits were a full sized quilt, and backing included.  The Christmas Clubs were for six months, and the Cover Story Clubs were four months.

This is a lot of kits to complete.

2006 -             You're Invited Club
2006 -             Limited Edition Club
2006 -             Christmas Countdown
2006 - 2007 - Calendar Table Toppers Club
2007 -             Lynette's Favorites
2007 -             Cover Story I
2007 -             Countdown to Christmas
2007 - 2008 - Beginner's Luck
2008 -             Room By Room
2008 -             Cover Story II
2008 - 2010    Anniversary Club

Now onto this quilt.  It is a kit from the Room by Room Club for May, 2008.  The name of this quilt is called Autumn Retreat, and is a pattern in her BK 290, called Cranberry Harvest.

This is a over-sized twin quilt done in alternating block patterns with a flying geese inner border.

One of the two block patterns.

The other one of the two block pattern.

Backing fabric that matches the fabric in one of the blocks.  I found enough of it online through eBay.

Right now, it is going into my finished collection.  I don't have any specific plans for it.  When I do, I will be sure to share.

Warmest...

2016 Finished Quilts - Thimbleberries Warm Heart - Quilt 6

Where do I begin on this quilt?  Everyone knows that I was (and still am to a certain extent) a Thimbleberries fan.  There was a time when Thimbleberries was going strong and very popular, around the late 90's and the early 2000's.  During that time, I think I bought everything and anything that was Thimbleberries related.  I participated in every program, BOM, and yearly club that it had.  If I had to guess, I would say that I have over 75 projects, several BOM's and 10 yearly clubs UFO's that need to be done, completed, or just dumped.  When I say dumped, they are projects I know I will never make, so I need to break up the fabric in the kits and possibly make something else with these fabrics.  I am thinking of making several scrappy quilts using Thimbleberries prints, and I could add to my already amassed collection of Thimbleberries scraps.

But, I have digressed.  This quilt is part of a program called, Room by Room.  It was a 12 month program that had a complete quilt kit each month.  This was the first kit in the program, and it arrived on my doorstop around the time I got laid off during the 2008 downturn of the economy.  I went into a very dark place, but quilting helped me through the process.  I completed this quilt the same week it came in the mail.  But I didn't have the confidence to go ahead and quilt it then , and I found other projects to work on, so it laid sleeping for several years.

Sorting through my many UFO's, I came across this one again, and promptly sent it off to the long armer.  The pattern is called Warm Heart and designed by Lynette Jensen of Thimbleberries.

Most of the backings sold with the kits (and yes I bought the backings too, to all the projects) will be in the line of beige on beige that Thimbleberries is famous for not only for backings but backgrounds.

These pictures are a close up of the two block patterns in this quilt.

When it came back from the long armer, I took it on an weekend trip, I snapped a picture of it and posted it on my FB page with a post about carrying a quilt to trips and stays in hotels.  I received a lot of likes and comments.  It was a nice pat on the back.

A close up and better showing of the true color of the border.

Next are the specific facts about the quilt:
