Completed December FW Blocks

Yes, I completed the Civil War Reproduction Farmer's Wife's blocks for December today.  Only one day late!  I spoke more of the daunting task of completing these blocks in yesterday's post, and when I see them stacked in the picture below, I can really see how daunting it was this past year.  The blocks for each color way will only make a twin size quilt, so I might have to add some additional borders so I can put it on a double bed.

Here are the blocks for December....

November's Farmer's Wife Blocks - Civil War

Well, nothing like the last day of the month to get this month's blocks done, but I'll take this win. BUT, it is only one of the two colorways that I got done on time this month, which is the civil war reproduction prints. I will let you know that I have five blocks done in the other colorway, so I should be able to get those done this weekend. Woot! Woot! That means I have only nine blocks in each colorway to do in December, meaning I met my goal! Then, after the first of the year, I can begin the task of assembling the blocks into the quilt tops.

The Other October Blocks

Not the most exciting post, except, inside I am jumping up and down. I have all of my October Farmer's Wife blocks done, in both colorways! Now I have two weeks to get November's set of blocks done (oh yeah, and have Thanksgiving too!)

The  blocks below are out of civil war reproduction fabrics.

September's Farmer's Wife Blocks

I finally got my September Farmer's Wife blocks done tonight! Unfortunally, it is only the Civil War colorway, and I still have the other colorway to do. I have two of the nine blocks done, but I'll save thos pics for when I get the rest done. I'm hoping to get them done this week, so I can get working on Octobers!

Just so you can see all of the Civil War color way for September, here are the ones I had done in an earlier post.

One Hour Sew Time

Sometimes, I only get an hour or less a day to sew. (Deep sigh) And the month of September is usually tougher to get in some sewing time because it is canning season. I've made some kind of sauce out of our tomatoes every week this month, several pints of jalapeños, we just canned our modest potato harvest, and this weekend we will be roasting and canning our continuous green chile harvest.

Oh, and my husbands gun shows pick up in the fall, so the last two weekends we spent working at the shows. Both days of the weekend...OK, no more whining.

I try to have several Projects cut out and ready to just pick up and start sewing when I have these little snippets of time. I can always work on my Farmer's Wife's blocks, because I cut all 111 blocks out for both color ways. I just grab a package of a cut out block and start sewing. Here is what I got done last night.

August Farmer's Wife Blocks - Civil War

Today was quite busy for me. I baked 5 loaves of banana/bluberry bread, slow cooked 5 quarts of tomatoes (freshed picked from the garden this morning) into a yummy sauce with dried herbs (also from the garden), picked some other herbs from the garden and put them in the dehydrator, and managed to finish August's Farmer's Wife blocks in the civil war reproduction colorway!

I did all of this because I have an extra day off at the end of the month, and I can get more of my "monthly" to do's done. My work schedule is not only flexible, but kinda complicated as, I work three days a week the second and third week of the month, and two days a week the first and the last week of the month. This schedule is a because of the paperwork cycle the comes in and gets processed each month for my department.

It is the best of both worlds of working and staying home! I am very fortunate to have a job like this and a husband who is also supportive of this arrangement!

So without further ado, here are my blocks for August.....

PS...I have a theory on why some of the blocks are not quite going together as well as others, but I will have to do some research and pay more attention to next month's blocks to write about what is going on. Stay tuned!
