2016 Finished Quilts - FQS Mystery Quilt 2012 - Quilt 10

Is anyone beginning to see a pattern here of the kind of quilts I like to make?  Yep, here is another one I got suckered into participating in from the Fat Quarter Shop.  They have an annual mystery quilt program.  I have only done two (I still have 2013 to put together.  Blocks are done, just have to get them sewn together and put one the borders.  Sigh...)  I haven't liked the last two years, but I did like this one for 2012.  It used Moda's Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille.

Their fabric lines are focused around red and turquoise for colors.  And this quilt is full of both colors.  It is bright, fun, and well designed.

Again, when using 12" X 12" blocks for a 12 month BOM program, you will usually end up with a twin size quilt.  This one measures 68" X 85".  I like the striped horizontal setting strips, and the flying geese vertical setting strips for the blocks.  It all played nice together.

Even the corners of the borders have some added whimsy to make this one stand out quite a bit.

Now the backing was a surprise, as it wasn't included in any of the blocks, but it ties in just perfect.

Next are the specific facts about the quilt:

Size:  68" X 85"
Fabric Lines Used:  Moda Vintage Modern - Bonnie and Camille Line
Pattern: Fat Quarter Shop Mystery Quilt 2012
Designer:  12 Differen Moda Designers.  One different designer each month
Long Arm Quilter:  Carol Logan
Year Began:  2012
Year Completed:  2016

2012 FQS BOM Top Done

Well, I finally put together the 2012 Fat Quarter Shop BOM quilt top put together, complete with the sashings and borders.  It looks like it will be about the size for a twin bed or maybee a little bigger.

I have trouble photographing the bigger quilts, so I asked my son and hubby to help.  The breeze was no helping much, and then the shade didn't work out well either, and having the sun behind me wasn't much better.  Hopefully between the three pictures, you can get an idea of how awesome it turned out!

Just a Peek

I did get some time in my sewing room this past week. Here is a peek of what I am working on in regards to getting the finishing pieces put together for last year's BOM. Only 11 more sets of these and some sashing and I should have the top completed!

I will get some more time in the sewing room this week, because it is supposed to be above normal warm for the Pacific Northwest. I will have to get out early in the mornings then this coming week because I have a bumper crop of blueberries ready for picking!

Final 12th Block

Well, I have closed out another BOM project, abet just the blocks.  This is the 12th and final block of the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery Block of the Month for 2012.  I already have received the finishing kit and backing, and will be making the sashing blocks, the framing sashes for each block and the borders with cornerstone blocks.  Finishing the top is and will be as much work as the 12 blocks were over the last year.  And to top it off, by June 15th, the next Fat Quarter Shop will be shipping the first block of the next BOM!!!!! Yikes!!!

I have pictured the previous blocks below to give you a look of all the blocks done to date.

"Give Thanks"

This is a small wall hanging that I have made for my cubicle at work. The pattern comes from here. There are eight verses that can be changed and hung on the button. I am using the fabric line "Vintage Modern".
