Yep, I'm featured on another blog.  Remember the posts here and here about the wristlets I've made?  Well, Erin over at Dog Under My Desk, did a feature post (click on the link to take you to the post and look for the picture below as it is the one she posted about) on her blog a couple of days ago that included my wristlet (I just found about it tonight while reading her blog).

I have three of her patterns, and have been busy sewing them up.  I think I have mentioned before that her patterns are worth every penny.  The patterns are well tested before being published and up for sale.  Her pattern writing is so good it would put some of the big name pattern companies to shame!  Part of the success of my Etsy store is due to the fact her patterns produce some very proffessional and well constructed items.  you can find my store by clicking  here.

Here is the wristlet that is featured.  It is quite an honor to be recognized on another's blog, but it is really an honor to be recognized by the pattern maker!

New Linen Mini Hipster

I have been busy working on my Farmer's Wife blocks for October. I am waiting to post about them when I have them all done, at least in each colorway. In the meantime I did get a new item done for my Etsy shop. This is the mini hipster that I did before in the college theme fabric.
Unlike the college team hipsters, I did not use a cordinating fabric for the main body of the hipster.  I wanted it to be all linen for the main body, with a feminine print lining.  The linen is from IKEA, and is lined with a Moda line "Sweet" by Urban Chiks.

I made a mini key fob out of the lining fabric for a nice set for sale in my Etsy Shop.

See the little bird attached to the zipper?  It is my signature "Wren Bird" for all my bags and key fobs. 

September's Done

Yipee! I got my September Farmer's Wife blocks done. For both color-ways! Here are the last three. I got them done while doing four loads of laundry, and fixing some meals for this weekend. I needed to cook some ahead meals, as we have a gun show both days this weekend.

P.S. I also got two blocks done for October, but I'll share them when I get more done!

Back to Quilting

Today, I spent time working on quilty stuff. First off I am trying to catch up on my Farmer's Wife blocks for September! I got four more blocks done from the colorway "Breath of Avignon". I do have all the civil war collorway blocks done for September, see here.

Awhile back I posted about a Local Quilt shop monthly quilt project that was on my list of past year's projects I wanted to get done this year.  The yellow arrow shows the four other ones on my list I would like to get done this year too!  You can see the pasts posts that show these blocks here.

So, after having the blocks done and stored for three years, I ran into a few issues.  Let me preface this by saying that i have gone to some very wonderful local quilt shops, but the one that I
participated in for this project lacked in running the shop as a business.  They substituted the background fabric after block two, their close, but it is a distraction.  And the substitute they chose was short, and I ended up having to piece the sashing.  The finishing instructions, written by the shop owner, were incomplete, excluding the last three rows (sashing blocks, sashing). It is just frustrating to invest time, money, and materials on something that is mediocre at best. Arg!   Now my quandary is to decide on how to proceed?  So why I ponder, it has been put back on the UFO shelf.  Bummer...

Busy

I have been busy the last three days. I have been trying to get my Etsy shop geared up for holiday shopping. Now that I have my goal of having stock in the shop, I am hoping to get back to my quilting. I'm a month and a half behind on my Farmer's Wife Blocks, and I have several Old BOM's with completed blocks that need assembly and quilting.

Wristlet Gift

I can now revel the rest of the pictures from this post. I made this for my Mom who lives out of state, so I had to wait to post these pictures until I knew she had received her package.

 The pattern is by Erin at Dog Under My Desk, and you can see it here and purchase the PDF pattern for a very reasonable amount - $8.00. In my humble opinion, this is less than or equal to the other PDF patterns out in blogland. I will also say, that her patterns are written so well, that your project comes out perfect and professional the first time using it. (Please note, I am note receiving any payment or gift for this review, I just like her patterns that much!)

I made this wristlet in my Mom's favorite colors, red, white and black. She was happy to see it come to her, as she requested something small to take with her to the pool and on quick trips.

It measures about 8" X5", has a detachable strap using some nice brass hardware I got  here, a zippered closure and a cute pocket inside.  It is perfect for all the essentials one would need to take on a quick trip, thus the name of the pattern, "Essential Wristlet"!
